Tero Heikkilä

Condensed matter theory group

The group studies the quantum and classical phenomena in small electronic systems, with a focus on superconductivity, magnetism, topological media and open quantum systems. Their approach is based on phenomenological low-energy theory of quantum systems.

Jose Lado

Correlated Quantum Materials

The group focuses on theoretically studying emerging quantum phenomena in quantum materials. The core of our research focuses on the theoretical design and engineering of new quantum materials with exotic properties that are hard to find in natural compounds.

Kezilebieke Shawulienu

Synthetic Quantum Materials Group

The group is interested in understanding the emergence of novel states of matters, such as topological insulators, topological superconductors, etc. They use van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures as a platform to create, understand, and manipulate these states and their excitations.

Teemu Ojanen

Theory of Quantum Matter

TQM group studies condensed matter and many-body systems with collective quantum behavior such as topological materials and quantum devices. Our work ranges from theoretically predicting novel states of matter to studies of complex systems, parallels of particle physics and condensed matter and aspects of quantum information.

Pertti Hakonen

Quantum Circuits and Correlations (NANO)

NANO group investigates fundamental quantum phenomena in superconducting nanostructures and hybrid devices. The goal is to develop and apply novel measurement and sensing technologies using quantum mechanical entanglement as a resource.

Päivi Törmä

Quantum Dynamics

The research interests of the QD group are quantum coherent dynamics and quantum many-body phenomena in condensed matter and photonic systems. We are active in the fields of superconductivity and nanophotonics, and we combine theory and experiment.

Mika Prunnila

Microelectronics and quantum technology

The group works on research, development and innovation at the intersection of advanced microelectronics, photonics and quantum technologies — including quantum computing hardware and related technologies from materials and device concepts all the way to prototyping, pilot fabrication and applied solutions.
